Benefits of Prayer

Nehemiah 1 is a blend of prayer and action. Prayer needs to be high on a leader's priority list.

Why is prayer so important?

1. PRAYER MAKES ONE WAIT

  • you cannot pray and work at the same time
  • prayer forces us to leave the situation to God

2. PRAYER CLEARS ONE'S VISION

  • a foggy morning is burned off by noon
  • prayer clears so you can see through God's eyes

3. PRAYER QUIETS ONE'S HEART

  • you cannot worry and pray at the same time
  • knees don't knock when we kneel on them

4. PRAYER ACTIVATES ONE'S FAITH

  • after praying one is more prone to trust God
  • prayer sets faith on fire

Prayer was the first major step Nehemiah took in his journey to effective leadership.
