About Good Shepherd Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church is a Christian congregation that is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). The WELS is a world-wide church body comprised of over 450,000 members and over 1300 congregations. Its headquarters are in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Good Shepherd was organized as a congregation in Rumford, RI, in 1973. We built a new worship facility in South Attleboro in 1991, after outgrowing our smaller church building in Rumford. Our members travel to South Attleboro from various parts of Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts, although a number of members also live in the Attleboros or nearby communities. We currently have approximately 160 members of all ages, although a large percentage of our members are from families with children. Strong personal relationships between our members provide for a friendly and open atmosphere where the needs of the individual are met through caring and mutual support.
